Are Apricots Good for Constipation?
Jacob’s got a little constipation and I am packing his fruit for him to take to where we work today…I have apricots, peaches, and pear with pineapple…which would be best to give him? (I’ve also got prunes which I am bringing..)
I have apple white grape juice for him too..
poor kid.
well.. maybe it’s not so much constipation.. he can poop, but it hurts and he cries… it’s a little hard too… o maybe what will soften his stool for him?
He is already on whole milk btw…doctor okaed it.
He’s been on it for a 3 weeks now…but I don’t think that is the problm.. he had hard stools once in a while on formula too
well here is what I HAVE (as in I cant go to the store) peaches, pear and pineapple, prunes and an apple white grape juice
I have apricots too
Well if you can’t go to the store you’ll just have to give him what is on hand. For sure the first thing you should give him is prunes. I’m not sure about the apricots. Also, if he is having a hard time pooping, and I don’t know if you already do this, dilute his juice with 1/2 juice 1/2 water. For my daughter the juice wouldn’t make anything better if I gave it to her plain.
Otherwise just give him any fruit after the prunes. He’ll be okay! My daughter went through this too and I just tried to feed her as healthy as I could, and she’s fine now. (17 mos old) Only once in a while will she poop like that.
Good luck
I’m not sure about apricots but I know when I was in hospital after my daughters birth they gave me pear juice to get me to use my bowels so based on that I’d go for the pears. How long has he been on the milk for? Although the dr has okayed it, if you think that’s what’s causing his discomfort then stop it and see the dr again.
Pear and prune juice was what the dr recommended for my son at that age. And it has to be undiluted. It is the high concentration of sugar that helps move the bowels. I would use that as juice and not too much – maybe 3 oz or so.
