Does Your Cat Eat This?

I love my cat to death. He is my little hero. I notice he likes to eat bananas, grapes and prunes. I think it cutes and of course it seems healthy. Is this okay for a cat to eat small bites every now and then? I never really thought about this being harmful until this morning. Yikes!

small bites of almost anything should be fine. Grapes are toxic to dogs, so I’d be leary of that (not a lot of cats eat grapes, so I’m sure this hasn’t been fully studied)

you want to keep treats to under 10% of a cat’s daily diet or you risk throwing off his nutritional balance.

The general thought out there is human food is bad for cats, but bad is a relative term. you do risk not meeting their nutritional needs, but if you are aware, and keep treats to a small portion of the cat’s diet, it might actually be good for them. Before the advent of commercial foods, cats lived on table scraps and hunting..
