Grape (Mars) Pruning Question?

Hello, i was wondering how to prune my grape vines. i have 3 and 1 is producing fruit this year. i didn’t prune them last year so i have a lot of growth at the bottom. the biggest one is all the way up the pergola but the bottom is growing thick like a bush. being that its mid spring can i prune some of that lower growth to give the vine more energy for fruit? as i say its like a bush at the bottom. to low for fruit to grow anyway, it would be on the ground. i guess my question is – would it hurt the plant to prune this early in the growing season? and should i spur prune or cane prune mars grapes? thanks for any help ! God Bless

It is difficult to explain how to prune something in a forum like this. Good thing there are many websites devoted to growing grapes and they will give you a full explanation of how to prune your grapes.
