Grapes Grown in Bag

Grapes grown experimentally inside a paper bag in New Jersey in 2008 (by Dan Ward of Rutgers/New Jersey Agriculture Experiment Station). The cultivar is ‘Chambourcin’, a hybrid wine grape, but table grapes would be a more likely use for this method. This is an experimental technique to produce a reduced-pesticide grape. Organic growers could also incorporate this method into their pest management practices. Home gardeners may find this a useful method for producing grapes with less spraying.

The bags used were fruit growing bags ordered directly from Japan.
