Growing Merlot Grapes?
I am growing merlot and chardonnay grapes. Both grape vines are doing great, the grapes are getting big. Do you know when the merlot grapes will start turning purple?
I live in Southern California.

Merlot is an early ripening variety, here in So. Cal that means mid to late september. Keep an eye on them, they can over ripen at the drop of a hat. Chardonnay will be more like mid october.
Depends on your climate, but most grapes turn later in the summer or early fall.
