They grow well in Southern Arizona if you can provide enough water. They produce a lot of sugar, whether that’s good or bad, I don’t know. Grape-wise they’re great. We have a few wineries here too that have good repute. Like most places, we have "wine-growing" regions. So, lots of sun, lots of water. I heard some afternoon cloudiness isn’t bad. In AZ we have monsoon summers, usually, and this year has had a lot of rain. Rain can bring fungus, but if it’s generally sunny, the fungus isn’t a big concern.
Napa, Sanoma, Mendocino, Tuscany, Burgundy! Hillside locations are preferred, not too cold but some chill, long dry late summers to ripen the grapes without mold problems.

I live in South Florida and have very sandy soil. The grapes are delicious and grow almost as weeds on a trellis.
